How much does a consultation cost?
Consultation fees vary depending on whether you are attending for an initial appointment (250GBP and usually up to 30 minutes) or a follow-up consultation (230GBP and usually up to 15 minutes).
If further investigations or treatment are required, we will explain the likely costs in advance so that you have a clear understanding before making any decisions.
Can I use private medical insurance?
Yes. We welcome patients insured by most major private medical insurers.
Before your appointment, please obtain authorisation from your insurer where required and have your membership and authorisation details available. If you have any questions regarding insurance cover, our team will be pleased to help.
How quickly can I be seen?
We understand that waiting for answers can be stressful. Wherever possible, appointments are available within a few days, and urgent cases are prioritised.
If further investigations such as blood tests, MRI scans, ultrasound or cystoscopy are required, we aim to arrange these promptly so that diagnosis and treatment are not unnecessarily delayed.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your initial consultation usually lasts up to 30.
During your appointment, I will discuss your symptoms, medical history, medications and any previous investigations. If appropriate, I may perform a clinical examination and review any scans or test results you have already had.
By the end of the consultation, you will have a clear explanation of the likely diagnosis, whether further investigations are required, and the treatment options available. My aim is to ensure that you leave with a personalised plan and a clear understanding of the next steps.
Will I need a scan?
Not everyone requires a scan.
Depending on your symptoms and examination findings, I may recommend investigations such as an ultrasound scan, CT scan or multiparametric MRI of the prostate. Any recommended investigation will be discussed fully, including why it is needed and how it will help guide your care.
Will I need surgery?
Many urological conditions can be managed without surgery.
Medication, lifestyle advice or careful monitoring may be all that is required. If an operation would provide the best outcome, I will explain the available options, the expected benefits, potential risks and recovery times so that you can make an informed decision.
